William A. McGill, Jr. Obituary (1950

Following a medical emergency on Thursday, November 7, 2024, William A. McGill, Jr., age 74, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic. William was born in Erie on July 9, 1950, son of the late Betty Brewer McGill and Arthur McGill. William was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Due to his declining health, he attended meetings mostly online. He was a wonderful provider and worked hard at whatever he did to make sure his family never went without. William often worked swing shifts at Hammermill, until they closed. Later, he bought and ran a pizza shop (Julio's) with his late wife, Debby McGill. He loved attending Erie Otters hockey Games and looked forward to feeding them whenever they had a home game. Later, he worked at Dana, Inc. where he found another passion of his, cleaning! His OCD was never happier than when he was able to shine something old and make it "like new". His last job, however, would prove to be the most difficult, as his late wife Debby, became terminally ill and he became her caretaker. William was known for his generous hospitality, feeding you until your tummy wanted to burst and then offering you dessert. He was very charismatic and told the best dad jokes! He had a way to find humor in even the worst situations. William was willing to help you, even if it meant he went without. He found peace listening to kingdom melodies, sitting on the balcony, with his wife, Sue, watching the day come up together or watching or attending a good old football game with friends and family. William is survived by his wife, Suzanne M. McGill, and her children, Michele Jones (Scott) and Marissa N. Lanich; his four children, William E. McGill, Luke A. McGill (Heather), Leah M. Kaday (Jason) and Rhonda Engels (Joshua); legal guardian of two children, Rebecca L. Stafford (Joe) and Earl Brown (Jessica); and four brothers, Edward McGill, Dick Page, Dennis McGill and Roy McGill; as well as one sister, Florence Sinnott. He was loved by many grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, with another on the way, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his first wife, Debby Hulsinger McGill; his son, Samuel J. McGill; one guardian son, A.J. Brown; two infant children; his mother, Betty; his father, Arthur; and his sister, Terri Tarver. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
