Wendalyne J. "Wendy" Romanowicz Obituary (1950 - 2022)

Wendalyne J. "Wendy" (Rockwell) Romanowicz, age 72, of Harborcreek Twp., passed away peacefully, on Friday, May 20, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born in Erie on February 4, 1950, the daughter of the late Harold and Marion (Bourne) Rockwell. Wendy was a 1968 graduate of Iroquois High School and went on to study the art of photography at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. Having done so, she was then hired as a graphic designer and camera operator by the former Hammermill Paper Co. where she spent the next 30 years until her retirement from what became the International Paper Co. It was during her years at Hammermill that she met the love of her life and on February 19, 1972, Wendy exchanged wedding vows with her best friend, David J. Romanowicz, at St. Stanislaus Church. Together, they spent 50 incredible years of love, friendship, and respect for one another. Wendy had an enduring love of dogs; especially her own beloved pets and the Cocker Spaniels which she bred. In addition, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and vacationing together at Hilton Head. Wendy was also an avid golfer and gardener. In addition to her beloved husband, David, she is also survived by three siblings: Debbie Kurt (Richard), Dawn Young (Dennis), and Harold Rockwell (Rhonda). Wendy will be laid to rest privately at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. In her memory, contributions may be designated to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511 or St. Stanislaus Catholic Parish, 516 E. 13th St., Erie, PA 16503. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Harborcreek Twp.
