Ursula Iris St. Denny

Ursula Iris St. Denny, 82, of Erie passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. She was born in Sohren, Germany on October 28, 1943, a daughter of the late Wilhelm and Irmgard (Stein) Schmidt.

Iris spent much of her life caring for others, both in her work and at home with her family. She met the love of her life, Terry, while he was stationed in Germany. When they discovered they had been born on the same day, on opposite sides of the world, the rest was history. They married on October 1, 1966.

Iris loved being outdoors, tending to her plants and garden, and watching the birds. She also enjoyed reading and watching nature shows, especially Animal Planet. Fiercely independent, Iris took great pride in her lawn and was reluctant to give up mowing it. Even after she had to, she kept a watchful eye on whoever took over. In the winter, you could still find her out snow blowing. Above all, Iris loved spending time with her family and grandkids.

In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Terry St. Denny.

Iris is survived by her son, Michael St. Denny (Cassie); daughter, Renee Stewart (Scottie); daughter, Michelle Montgomery; grandchildren, Alex Martin (Megan), Nicholas Martin (Tori), and Tashianna Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Arianna, Sophia, and Max; her brother, Manfred Schmidt (Julianna); and brother-in-law, Dick St. Denny (Charlotte). Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends and family may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Thursday, October 1st, from 3 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:45 pm. Burial will be private. Send condolences to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.
