Steven Douglas Akerly

Steven Douglas Akerly, age 25, of Harborcreek, passed away at his residence on Friday, August 7, 2015. He was born December 13, 1989 in Erie, the son of Dan and Pat McHugh Akerly.
Steve was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School and had also attended Edinboro University. He loved animals and he also enjoyed writing and listening to music as well as skateboarding. Steve was employed at his father's business, Akerly Concrete Construction. He will be lovingly remembered for his great compassion and tender heart.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Les and Rita Akerly and his maternal grandfather, Don McHugh.
In addition to his parents, Steve is survived by two sisters, Serena Akerly of Panama and Julie Akerly of Tempe, AZ and his maternal grandmother, Lil McHugh. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek), on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service to be conducted there at 8:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1023 French St., Erie, PA 16501 or to the A.N.N.A. (Association for Needy and Neglected Animals) Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.
