Ronald “Ron” Braden (formerly Butt), age 80, of Wesleyville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, after a life full of strength, grit, and deep love for his family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Mabel Butt; and his brother, Thomas Braden.
Ron lived a long, tough life and faced challenges and illnesses with remarkable determination and resilience. Tough as nails and a true fighter, he met every obstacle head-on and inspired those around him with his courage and grit.
More than anything, Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Braden, whose steady support and companionship were the foundation of their life together.
He leaves behind his four sons, who were the pride of his life, Steven (Jeanne), Robert (Jen), Corey (Sherry), and Kyle (Melanie). Ron was also the proud Papa of Jake, Steffany, Kendall, Connor, and Jack, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished every chance to watch them grow and succeed.
Ron is also survived by his beloved sister, Carol Ann (Ernest) Wolf; his brothers-in-law, Rick (Lynn) Oborski and Gary Oborski; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
Ron worked at General Electric for 32 years in Building 18 and the last five of those years as a Safety Coordinator. He enjoyed 24 years of retirement. He also had a lot of hobbies over the years. He loved motorcycles and classic cars, and really enjoyed the craftsmanship, mechanics, and sense of freedom they brought him. His most cherished role, though, was bringing joy to countless children throughout the Erie community by portraying Santa Claus for more than 55 holiday seasons. Ron also served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.
Ron will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the lives he touched.
Ron’s family invites all who knew him to remember him not just with sadness, but with gratitude for the many years of love, laughter, and strength he shared with everyone lucky enough to know him.
