Richard J. Sayers, Sr. Obituary (1966 - 2026)

Richard Joseph Sayers Sr. of Erie, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the age of 59. He was born in Erie on July 27, 1966. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Sayers and mother, Barbara Sayers. He is survived by his children, Ashley Sayers (David Lilley), Richard Sayers Jr., and Justin Sayers; grandchildren, Aveyanah Lilley, A’riyah Lilley, Ariella Lilley, and Barrett Sayers; siblings, John Sayers (Cindy Hannon Sayers) and Patricia Chernicky; and his loving partner, Gena Warren. Richard was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School and dedicated many years of hard work to Great Lakes Cast Stone. A true craftsman, Richard had a remarkable talent for working with his hands and could build or fix just about anything he set his mind to. He especially enjoyed taking rides in his 1991 Corvette, which he loved dearly and devoted countless hours of his time to, woodworking, and completing impressive home remodeling projects that reflected both his skill and creativity. Richard will be remembered as a loving, hardworking, and humorous man whose stubbornness was simply part of his strong spirit. Above all, he deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and his partner of 15 years, Gena, who meant so much to him.
