Richard "Rich" J. Bauer Obituary (1961 - 2018)

Richard J. Bauer, age 56, of Harborcreek, passed away suddenly, on Friday, July 6, 2018. He was born in Erie on August 10, 1961, son of the late Henry and Marjorie (LaCour) Bauer. Rich attended Harbor Creek High School. He was currently employed by the General Electric Co. and was previously employed by the former Hercules. Rich was a member of the East Erie Moose Lodge and the Siebenbuerger Club. In years past, he had served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Harborcreek Fire Dept. Rich enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, restoring classic cars and going to cruise-ins. He was a generous man who had a big heart; especially for his family, friends and for assisting with all children's charities. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Bauer and one grandson, Adam Mong. Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Lisa A. Scholton Bauer; five children: Wayne Sowers, Rich Bauer, Jeremy Sowers (Meghan), Nicole Mong (Adam) and Joe Bauer; one brother, Danny Bauer (Debbie); three sisters: Cindy Sutton (Mike Chrzanowski), Laurene Nelson (Matt), Marjorie Newman (Carmen); one brother-in-law, Jim Scholton (Sheila); three sisters-in-law: Kandy Bauer, Tammy Marshall and Sherry Platz (Norman); nine grandchildren; his father-in-law, Rink Bickel (Mo) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.), on Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service to be conducted there at 2 p.m. by Rev. Mark McCallion, Pastor of Wesleyville Baptist Church. Rich will be laid to rest at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleft Palate Institute, 4950 W.23rd St., Erie, PA 16506.
