Mary M. Podskalny

Mary M. Podskalny, age 92, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Ball Pavillion, Brevillier Village, in Harborcreek. She was born in Fremont, OH on May 16, 1924, daughter of the late Herman and Kathryn Ingleson Jochimsen.

Mary worked for the War Department in Washington, DC during World War II. She was a dedicated housewife and mother to her four children, volunteering in the cafeteria at St. James Grade School during the children's years there. She enjoyed embroidery, and donating beautifully embroidered pillowcases to the St. James Festival on an annual basis. She also enjoyed working in the Shoe Department in the Boston Store for many years.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Podskalny; son, David Podskalny; and brother, George Jochimsen. She is survived by her children, Judith Podskalny of Silver Spring, MD, Sandra Podskalny-Vincent of Damascus, MD, and Thomas Podskalny (Linda) of Harborcreek; five grandchildren, Andrew, Brian, Julie, Michael and Laurie; and five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jordyn, Bradie, Lilly, and Hudson.

No calling hours will be observed. Burial will be private at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Humane Society of Northwestern PA, 2507 Zimmerly Road, Erie, PA 16506. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc. - East.
