Mary Thomas Lambros

–

Erie, PA

Mary Thomas Lambros, age 90, passed away at Sarah Reed Senior Living on October 31, 2018, following a brief illness. She was born in Erie on March 18, 1928, to Gust and Chryssa Vicos Thomas.

Mary graduated from East High School and married the love of her life, Christ Lambros, the day following her graduation from high school. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage until his passing in 2011. Mary and Christ were mainstays at many local restaurants. They enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, who all became their friends. They loved to vacation most of all, visiting Disney as often as they possibly could. They loved being in the warm weather, around a swimming pool, Mary sunning herself while Christ swam in the pool.

She was most proud of her Greek heritage and was a lifelong member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Erie where she was a member of the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society and sang in the church choir for many years.

Mary was also a proficient crafter. Her specialty was weddings and she made beautiful centerpieces and floral arrangements. Her gift wrapping and her handmade bows were as beautiful as the gift itself. Mary prided herself on doing everything to her idea of perfection and would spend hours on a project until she got it exactly the way she envisioned it.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Thomas Mentouri.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Christelle Lambros DeCrease (Claire DeSantis); her grandson, Gabriel DeCrease of Richmond, TX; her brother, Tom Thomas of Pittsburgh; her sister-in-law, Helen Lambros of Ashtabula, OH; her brothers-in-law, Alex and Tom Lambros, also of Ashtabula, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday at 11 am conducted by Rev. Theofanis Nacopoulos. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 West Lake Road, Erie, PA 16505. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc.

"Our heartfelt thanks to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church for their love and support on behalf of my mother at this sad time."
