Margaret A. Hume, age 92, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2026, following a brief illness. She was born in Erie on September 13, 1934, daughter of the late John Krysiak and Helen Argeny Krysiak.
Born and raised in Erie, Margaret attended East High School and spent her life deeply rooted in the community, her friendships and above all, her family. She was married to James Hume and was a devoted mother of three daughters.
Margaret worked for many years in the Finance Administrative Office at Penn State Behrend before retiring. Outside of work, she found happiness in the simple things: summers spent at their home they built on Findley Lake, family picnics, weekend trips with her sister-in-law, Pat, and time spent with many dear friends she met throughout her life. She also took great pride in keeping an immaculate house – those who knew her well knew that things had a place and Margaret made sure they found it.
Endlessly generous and dependable, Margaret was someone who simply showed up for her family, for her friends and for the people she loved, she was always there. She lived with a quiet sense of spirituality and a belief in doing good for others, something she demonstrated not just in words, but in the way she lived her life. Margaret will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by the many people whose lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Hume; her son-in-law, Ali Wandi; a brother, Jack Krysiak; sisters-in-law, Patricia Krysiak and Carol Peterman; and brothers-in-law, Charles Dunn and Richard Peterman. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Jane Hume (Tom Lewis), Marlene Wandi and Lisa Vaughn (Robert), all of Erie; her grandchildren, Adam Nainar (Jacqueline Lawson-Marucci), Sarah Nainar (Luke Hanna), Olivia Vaughn (Nathan Inglesby), James Vaughn, Yusif Wandi and Azad Wandi; her beloved sister, Geraldine Dunn; her sister-in-law, Sheila Harris of FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Family would like to thank the many caregivers who treated her so kindly the last few years, especially the staff at Manchester Commons.
