Lothar Robert "Bob" Jandt Obituary (1936 - 2017)

Lothar Robert "Bob" Jandt passed away peacefully on June 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Germany on March 27, 1936 to Ilse and Kurt Jandt Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rita Jandt; his daughters: Michele Ardillo and husband Tom, Renee Concilla and husband Mark, Jennifer Jandt and Scotty, Debbie Jandt, Diane Kuhn and husband Dan and Susan Jandt. Bob, known as "Pap Pap", was adored by his granddaughters, Christa and Sophie and grandsons, Matthew, Anthony, Garrett, Gregory and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1953 where they began their lives as U.S. citizens. Bob served in the United States Air Force and attended Carnegie Mellon University before beginning his successful career in Management for the K-Mart Corporation. Bob was a highly respected, kind, compassionate and generous man to all who knew and worked for him. Besides being a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Bob was also active in his community. He served as a Board Member of the Erie Water Authority for 10 years. Bob and his wife for many years volunteered for the Erie County Republican Party devoting their time to having a positive impact. Bob's Christian faith was evident as an active member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years, serving on several committees. Bob was known to all as a man with endless talents. He could construct anything from an idea in his head and a hammer and shovel. After retirement, Bob continued to devote his time to his family and supporting his pride and joy which were all of his grandchildren, never missing their countless hockey, football, basketball, baseball and soccer games and the numerous other activities they were involved in. He was a wonderful role model and taught his grandchildren many life lessons. Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek), on Friday, June 30th from 2 to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service immediately following calling hours at the funeral home to which everyone is welcome to attend. Further visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1st at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 10 a.m. Bob will be laid to rest at North East Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5414 East Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16511. A special note of appreciation to the staff at LECOM and the VNA for their kindness and compassion to Bob through his journey home.
