LeRoy A. Palloto Obituary (1932 - 2017)

LeRoy "Lee" A. Palloto, 84, a lifetime resident of Harborcreek, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was born on August 10, 1932 in Erie, son of the late Nella M. Benacci Palloto and Anthony M. Palloto. Lee was a 1950 graduate of Harbor Creek High School, and obtained degrees from Slippery Rock University and Penn State University. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He spent 34 years as an educator, administrator and head basketball coach at Harbor Creek High School, retiring in 1989. Lee was a high school stand out athlete in multiple sports. He went on to play soccer for Slippery Rock University and at the national level. While at Penn State, he was a graduate assistant football coach under Joe Paterno. In 2013, Lee was inducted into the Harbor Creek Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid bowler achieving a perfect 300 game and 817 series. Although he loved sports, what he was most proud of was being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Lee is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy Tanner Palloto. He is also survived by his five children, Matt Palloto (Judy), Randy Palloto (Bambi), Pam Palloto, Lisa Wayand (Joe), Mike Palloto and three stepsons, Steven Henry (Sandy), Pat Henry, Kevin Henry, 15 grandchildren ( Leigh Ann, Mande, Tara, Ellen, Patrick, Benacci, Claire, Mackenzie, Logan, Katelynn, Gavin, Tallin, Macy, Garrett, and Sara) and two great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek), on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10 a.m. by Rev. Russell D. Hixson, Pastor of Wattsburg United Methodist Church. LeRoy will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered by the American Legion, Carl Neff Post #571.
