Laure J. Smith

Laure J. Smith, age 106, of Lawrence Park, residing at Brevillier Village for the past 10 years, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026. She was born in Erie on November 28, 1919, daughter of the late Edward and Josephine Schwab Becker.

Laure was a 1938 graduate of East High School and was a homemaker her whole life. She was a great baker and her family especially loved her chocolate chip cookies. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Laure was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she participated in many activities including the choir. She also sang with the choir at Grace and Trinity Lutheran over the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith; and three brothers, Alvin, Edward and Leonard. Laure is survived by her daughters, Barbara Guenther (Herb) and Geraldine Smith (James); five grandchildren, Barry (Nikki), Heidi, Colleen (Mike), Shelly and Brenda; six great-grandchildren, Blake, Joshua, McKenszie, Jaxson, David and Shyanne; one great-great-granddaughter, Londyn; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Thursday, September 10th, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Further visitation will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 5414 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511, on Friday, September 11th, from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service there at 11 am, conducted by Rev.
