Kathryn Ann Kelley Majersky

–

Erie, PA

Kay passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of Friday August 5, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born on January 17, 1929 in Erie, PA, the younger of the two daughters of Evelyn Horner Leland and John Francis Kelley.

Kay graduated from St. Benedict Academy in 1947, and in spite of having been voted "Most Likely to Become a Nun," married the love of her life, Joe Majersky, on August 6, 1949. She worked at General Electric after high school, but left GE to have kids -- little did she know, she and Joe would have seven children.

She liked to stay busy. In addition to raising seven kids, Kay volunteered in the Holy Family School cafeteria for many years, and worked for a while at Marx Toys, The Jean Carnes Show, and the Stagecoach Restaurant, before finally retiring in the late '80s from the Super Duper lunch counter. After retiring, she enjoyed helping Joe run Joe's Seniors bus tours.

Kay had a fun-loving spirit. Like Joe, she loved to sing, and was a longtime member of the Holy Family Church choir and Siebenbuerger Singing Society. Kay loved playing games (but hated to lose), whether it be card games, board games, or watching TV game shows. She was especially ruthless at 500 Rummy and would play for hours, taking on anyone who would dare -- and agree to her rules. When there was no one to play cards, Kay was a determined crossword puzzler. She enjoyed an occasional Long Island Iced Tea because "it went down sooo smooooth." But most of all, Kay loved spending time with her family and was happiest when feeding them.

She was preceded in death by Joe after 64 years of marriage; her parents; sister, Marjorie Brown; son, Tom Majersky; and son-in-law, David Schau. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Schau of Charleston, WV, Carol Perry (John) of Erie, and Susan FitzGerald (Ken) of Seattle, WA; a daughter-in-law, Christine Majersky of Butler, PA; three sons, Larry Majersky (Susan East), Gerry Majersky (Pam Arnold), and Michael Majersky (Mary Pat) all of Erie; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kay's family is forever indebted to Mary Pat Majersky for the dedicated around-the-clock care and love she gave Kay for the past two years, assisted by Kay's granddaughters, Rachel Majersky and Stephanie Majersky. We'd also like to thank former caregivers, Shirley, Julia, Vanessa, Elsie, and Erica, as well as Christin and Sandy from AseraCare Hospice.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Holy Family R.C. Church, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 913 Fulton Street, on Friday at 10 am. Inurnment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
