Joseph S. Zurawski Obituary (1928 - 2018)

Joseph S. Zurawski, age 89, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018. He was born in Erie on September 4, 1928, the son of the late Stanley and Stella Yzbisky. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army achieving the rank of SGT First Class. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart following the Korean Conflict. He first worked at Erie City Manufacturing before the General Electric Co., prior to his retirement. Following his retirement, he enjoyed his work at Stan's Garden Center, where he was able to use his talents. He loved doing projects around the house, and teaching his grandsons every step of the way. More than anything, he loved time with his grandsons. Joe was a member of St. James R.C. Church. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, cheering for anyone who could beat the Steelers. Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Zurawski; one son, Stephen Zurawski; one daughter, Sandra Yadeski (James) and two grandsons, Evan and Andrew Yadeski. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with military honors rendered by the American Legion Carl Neff Post #571.
