John Franklin Allen

–

Erie, PA

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, John Franklin Allen, age 88, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a life well-lived. He was a life-long resident of Harborcreek Township, born there on March 7, 1933, son of the late Herbert and Patricia Bea (Champlin) Allen.

John graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1952 and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Panama and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was employed by the General Electric Company as a draftsman, retiring in 1993 after 40 years of service. John was an active member of Praise Cathedral Church of God, assisting in the Church Welcome Center and as a leader of the J.O.Y. Group. He was a master woodworker, enjoyed fishing and watching the wildlife in his yard. He had a keen ability to appreciate life's greatest treasures: family, fellowship with his friends, and praise of his Lord.

John is lovingly survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise M. (Savage) Allen, whom he married on April 27, 1957; son, John Herbert Allen (Kristina); son-in-law, Bradley B. Beck; two granddaughters: Cassandra Schulz (Ryan) and Alyssa Beck; three great-grandchildren: Coralynn, Jace, and Hadley; two brothers: Thomas and Fenn Allen; sister, Patricia Ducharme (Gene); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth M. (Allen) Beck; three sisters: Dr. Marie Smith, Elizabeth Sidelinger, and Louise Allen; and two brothers: Walter and James Allen.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Sunday from 3 - 7 PM and on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Service there at 11 AM, to be conducted by Reverend Michael Grove, pastor of Praise Cathedral. Interment will immediately follow at North East Cemetery with Full Military Honors. All public safety guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic will be strictly adhered to, including the mandate for the use of face masks and social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park St., North East, PA 16428.

John would want you to know the three most important life decisions you will ever make are: Your Master - Your Mission - and Your Mate. Therefore, choose wisely.
