Irene J. Novel Goodman Thompson Obituary (1929 - 2021)

Irene J. Novel Goodman Thompson, age 92, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was born in Erie on January 8, 1929, daughter of the late John F. and Stella Novel. Irene worked for Arthur F. Schultz, where she is now retired from and was a representative for Avon for 21 years. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church where she held the position of President of the WLCA and also the Alter Guild. Her husband, Norm, helped with the delivery of flowers to shut-ins. She was on the committee of the Building Fund. She and her husband were volunteers of the Marx Toys Museum. They also traveled a great deal. Besides her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L. Thompson who passed away on January 11, 2017; and her son, Mark Goodman; four sisters, Joann Edinger, Rita Olsen, Eleanor Omniewski and Dorothy Novel; and one brother, John Novel. Irene is survived by two sons, Gary Goodman (Honey Carol), and David Goodman; one brother, Ed Novel; one half-brother, Kenneth Kaliewski; three grandchildren, Darrin Goodman (Kelly), Miranda Ketcham (Bruce) and Jeffery Goodman (Mary); seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Isabella, Grace and Emma Goodman, Zoeymarie, and Zander and Katherine Ketcham; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Saturday from noon until the time of the Funeral Service there at 2 pm. A private interment will be held at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery at a later date.
