Gerald G. “Jerry” Thompson Obituary (1942 - 2023)

Gerald G. "Jerry" Thompson, age 81, of Harborcreek Twp., passed away peacefully, at his home on Thursday, December 21, 2023, following a brief illness. He was born in Erie on October 2, 1942, son of the late J. Gordon and Virginia (Learn) Thompson. Jerry was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School, and a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Jerry was employed by the General Electric Co. for 35 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and visits to Presque Isle Downs & Casino, where he was affectionately known as "Uncle Jerry". Jerry is survived by 2 children: Brian Thompson (Sue) and Annette Thompson; 6 grandchildren: Jacob (Hannah), Elizabeth (Pieter), James, Victoria (Johnny), Mary (Todd), and Kristi (Nate); 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret A. "Margie" (Norder) Thompson. Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Thursday, December 28th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and are further invited to attend a funeral service there on Friday, December 29th at 11 AM. Following the service, Jerry will be laid to rest at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full military honors.
