Georgiy Rubenovich Kotanchiyev Obituary (1929 - 2018)

Georgiy Rubenovich Kotanchiyev, age 88, of Erie, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. He was born in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 18, 1929, son of the late Ruben and Arusiak Kotanchiyev. In Azerbaijan, Georgiy worked in the gas and oil industry as a high quality welder for over 35 years. He came to the United States in 1995. Georgiy enjoyed reading, traveling, table games and watching sports, especially soccer and American football. Georgiy also enjoyed walking and sightseeing. Georgiy was preceded in death by his wife, Alexandra Kotanchiyeva; his sister, Knarik and his brother, Ivan Kotanchiyev. Survivors include his daughter, Rimma Akopyan and her husband, Georgiy; son, Sergey Kotanchiyev and his wife, Romela; five grandchildren, Arsen Akopyan and his wife, Elena, Artur Akopyan, Georgiy Kotanchiyev and his wife, Sarah, Inna Kotanchiyev and Michael Kotanchiyev; and one great-grandson, Leone Akopyan. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 6 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 am. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
