Emeline C. “Millie” Laboda Obituary (1922 - 2022)

Emeline C. "Millie" Laboda, age 99, of Erie, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022. She was born in Erie on October 11, 1922, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Skapura Machuga. Millie was a graduate of East High School. She worked at General Electric for several years and retired from Copes Vulcan in 1987. Emeline was an active member of St. Nicholas Church and sang in the church choir for many years. She bowled at the GCS Club in leagues for many years with family and lifelong friends. Always active in the kitchen, Mille was famous for her apple pie and meatballs, which even though her recipes were passed on, no one could ever seem to duplicate. She enjoyed travel and never missed the opportunity to take a cruise with family and friends. She was the ultimate cheerleader for all her children and grandchildren, never missing a skating competition, baseball game or hockey game. Millie's only disappointment was not making the "Big 100". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, George; and brothers, John, Andrew, and Edward. Millie is survived by her daughter, Carol Metz; sons, George and James (Christina) Laboda; grandchildren, Joelle Fosco (Collin McDonald) and George Laboda Jr. (Rae Dawn); sister, Marge Sima; brother, Peter Machuga (Zohreh); and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 10 am, conducted by Fr. Nicholas Mihaly. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Family Hospice, 1700 Peach St #244, Erie, PA 16501.
