Eleanor I. Maas

Eleanor I. Maas, age 97, of Millcreek, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018. She was born in Newmansville, PA on August 21, 1921, daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Walters.

Eleanor was a member of Luther Memorial Church. She was in retail, working from January 1972 until September 1994 at the Boston Store, Horne's, and then Lazarus prior to her retirement. Eleanor was in the Zukor Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid seamstress and knitter. She loved Christmas and all the festivities around the Christmas tree.

Eleanor is survived by one son, Robert D. Maas of Fairview; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jerry Young of Winslow, ME; and nieces and nephews. Eleanor was married to her husband, Robert H. Maas on March 16, 1946, until the time of his passing on August 31, 1971. She was further preceded in death by four sisters, Laura Culling, Helen Meehan, Sara Seigworth, and an infant sister; and five brothers, George, Cecil, Harvey, Marvin, and Francis Walters.

The family would like to thank Eleanor's caregivers, her great-niece, Karen Nixdorf, Annie Wisniewski, and Suzanne M. Welton, for their wonderful care that they gave to Eleanor.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, December 28, at 10:30 am at Luther Memorial Church, 225 West 10th Street. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or to a charity of one's choice.
