Debra “Debbie” (Donihi) Thompson Obituary (1952 - 2024)

Debra "Debbie" (Donihi) Thompson, 72, of Green Twp. passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at UPMC Hamot following an unexpected illness. She was born in Erie on May 15, 1952, a daughter of the late, Jack G. and Betty Lou (Seidler) Donihi. Debbie graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1970. Then, obtained a bachelor's degree in Education from Edinboro University. Debbie taught at Emmanuel Presbyterian Preschool and also worked for many years as a Librarian at Mercer Public Library. Debra married her loving husband, of almost 50 years, David R. Thompson on August 17, 1974. They have one daughter, Tracie (Thompson) Perrine (married to Jeremy Perrine) and two grandsons, Jayden and Bryce Perrine. Debbie loved nothing more than sitting in the sun and reading her books. Spending time with her family was always very important to her. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved her cruises and trips with family and friends. She was a "snowbird" and spent the winter months in Melbourne, FL. She especially loved listening to music, the beach, and being outside with her family. Debbie could be found cheering on her grandsons at their sporting events or watching Jeopardy with her husband. From listening to the bands at Camp Holly, cheering on the Steelers, feeding the Florida squirrels, sipping on her 11:00 am coffee, and watching her son-in-law's fireworks - Debbie enjoyed life. She was always proud of her husband's cooking. Debbie was a strong, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Lynnette (Donihi) Stucky; her in-laws, Henry and Alice (Seely) Thompson; and brother-in-laws, Henry "Butch" Thompson, Jr. and Daryl Thompson. Debbie is survived by her husband, David R. Thompson; daughter, Tracie Perrine (Jeremy); two grandsons, Jayden and Bryce Perrine; brother, Richard Donihi (Linda); sister, Darcie Cleary (Gary); brother-in-law, Mark Thompson (Patty); "adopted" sister, Risa Glick; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her dear, lifelong friend, Patty Hall. Family and friends are invited to Dusckas Funeral and Cremation Services Harborcreek 5151 Buffalo Rd.
