Deane Alston Scott Obituary (1936 - 2023)

Deane Alston Scott, 86, of Harborcreek, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. He was born in Erie on July 11, 1936, the son of the late William R. and Clarabell A. (Black) Scott. Deane grew up on the family dairy farm in Waterford. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1954 and served in the US Army National Guard. He was employed as a brick layer for over 50 years, retiring from Mark Randolph Masonry. Deane was affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Harborcreek. He was long-time Waterford Little League coach, having the distinction of a five-year undefeated team. Deane loved playing cards, especially with his treasured grandchildren. Deane is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joanne H. (Kocher) Scott; two children: Shelley K. Caldwell (Mark) and Erin R. Bentley (James); eight grandchildren: Nicholas and Ryan Scott, Luke Morgan, Carly Pearce, and Morgan, Jason, Amanda, and Lauren Bentley; one sister, Eileen McGahen (Robert); six great-grandchildren: Cameron, Cain, Leah, Melody, Lyla, and Kaleigha; one daughter-in-law, Linda Scott; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Deane was preceded in death by one son, Brian K. Scott, and one brother, Francis D. Scott. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Harborcreek.
