David L. Hale, age 86, of Harborcreek, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026. He was born in Erie on June 30, 1940, son of the late George and Justyne Palkovic Hale.
David enjoyed woodworking, spending time outdoors, watching animal programs, and reading James Patterson novels. His favorite place to relax was the front porch, where he could often be found enjoying the day. David spent time at Dobbins Landing with Porky and Tom, catching bait for their bait shop. He worked at Hammermill for much of his career. A proud Army veteran, David was stationed in Germany for three years, where he served as a mechanic. He also enjoyed working in construction and took pride in building two homes in Greene Township.
David and Annette met while working at Sterling Seal. Annette always remembered the first time she saw him driving a jitney—he made her eyes pop! They were married at St. Patrick’s Church on April 24, 1965, and shared more than 60 years together. They especially enjoyed being involved in Marriage Encounter, a program through the Erie Catholic Diocese, which brought them many wonderful experiences and lasting memories. David was always there for his family and was forever faithful and devoted to his wife, Annette.
David is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annette Pierzynski Hale; three children: Christina Hammerman, Christopher Hale (Nettina), and Bob Bemis (Tracey); three brothers: George, Michael and Scott Hale; two grandchildren: Stacy and Morgyn; one great-grandson, Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by one sister, Patty Leach; one brother, Patrick Hale; and his stepmother, Wanda Hale.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Erie VA Medical Center and Saint Vincent Hospital.
