Daniel C. Briggs Obituary (1935 - 2024)

Daniel C. Briggs, age 88, of Union City, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was born in Wesleyville on May 28, 1935, son of the late Charles and Marcella Briggs. Daniel was a 1953 graduate of Wesleyville High School. He started his work career working with the Wesleyville Boro and at the Esso Station and a myriad of other businesses around the community of Wesleyville, where he was well known. Daniel was the owner and operator of Twinbrook Tool and Mold in Wesleyville, ending his toolmaker career at West Pharmaceutical Co. He was a member of St. James R.C. Church and a member and past president of the Gem City Gun Club. Daniel was an expert marksman in a pistol competition. He was an Erie Crawford County State Police Officer. Daniel is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosalyn Zimmer Briggs, whom he married December 11, 1954; six children, Vivian Wike (Gregg), Joan Myers (Doug), Mark Briggs (Charleen), Jack Briggs (Kevin), Paul Briggs and Pat Schmitt; six grandchildren, Ivan and Daniel Wike, Cheri Owens, Mark and Charles Briggs and Benjamin Duckett; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George "Buster" Briggs; and three sisters, Agnes Flanagan, Jean Ballenger and Ruth Dimpelfeld. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral and Cremation Services Harborcreek, 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm. Further visitation will be held there on Monday from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:30 am conducted by Rev. James McCormick. Interment will follow at Wattsburg Cemetery.
