Danelle Gradler Osborn Obituary (1957 - 2022)

Danelle Gradler Osborn was born April 1, 1957 and passed to her creator on September 23, 2022. Born and raised in Erie, she was raised by her now deceased parents, Gerald Gradler and Joan Ramsey Gradler Schweinberg; and had two wonderful siblings, Rick Becker and Pam Gradler Griesbach. She is also predeceased by her Yorkies, Ralph, Puppins, Dinkie, Lexi and Ellis, and Sarah the cat. She has been married to her husband Steve Osborn for 22 years. She is also survived by seven nephews and nieces, Lynne Becker (Nadine VanTassel), Todd Griesbach (Marcie), Jo-Al Lonyo, Richard Michael Becker (Celinda Angelotti), Kira Griesbach Brown (Jeff), Tom Helmuth (Fiona), and Katie Helmuth Muse (Brian); as well as seven great-nephews and nieces to whom she was fondly called "Grauntie Danelle". Danelle graduated from Harbor Creek High School. She put herself through nursing aide school, then received her nursing diploma from Saint Vincent School of Nursing. She went on to get an MSN in Anesthesia from Edinboro University. She worked for decades as a nurse anesthetist, most of that in the Saint Vincent main operating room, the Saint Vincent Surgery Center and the Niagara Surgery Center. She had great attention to detail thus anticipating any medical issues. But she also had an amazing way to connect with patients nervous about their surgeries. Danelle was a life-long follower of Jesus and had a deep faith in God. She spent her formative years at Messiah Lutheran in Wesleyville, and the last two decades at First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. She was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, worked at the overnight homeless shelter, and otherwise daily displayed her deep Christian faith. Danelle loved her wildlife. Her favorites were bluebirds of which she observed many nestlings take their first flight from the birdbox she maintained. The backyard had bird baths and feeders for hummingbirds, orioles, woodpeckers, finches, and all variety of birds, as well as the neighborhood raccoon, woodchuck and the deer coming up from Asbury Woods where she loved to walk. She had a quirky sense of humor making her a joy to many, and also a keen sense of justice and truth, and was not afraid to share her opinions. Danelle had many health issues which she managed, including open heart surgery and a kidney transplant both caused by congenital disorders. She was blessed with having dedicated doctors and other healthcare staff for decades including Dr. Peter Barzyk (Bayview Nephrology), Dr. Jeffrey Buetikofer, Dr. Jasmine Martinez Castellanos, and nurse Shannon Eggleston (Saint Vincent Consultants in Cardiology), Dr. Warren Beaver (Community Health Net), Dr. Nancy Weissbach (Saint Vincent Infectious Diseases), and Physical Therapist Alisa Miller. The family would like to thank the amazing team at the Saint Vincent Cancer Center, including Sherri Lojewski (primary nurse), Julie Cole (Nurse Navigator), medical technicians, Kaylee, Kathleen and Kelly, Dr. Pritam Tayshetye (Oncology), Dr. Amrita Chakraborty (Palliative Medicine), Karen Schnaekel (Dietitian Navigator), Amy Betz (Pharmacist), all the infusion nurses including, Jen Katchen, Robin Meyer, Jackie Demichael, and Chrissie Simmons, Mary Beth Kroemer (manager) and Ron Kramzek (the volunteer). We would like to acknowledge the many members of First Covenant who sent cards and gifts, and called with support particularly calling out Mary Concoby, Sandy Herman, Cindy Kerchoff and Diane Ream. Also thanks to the many others who frequently sent gifts and cards including Kira Brown (and kids), Tom Cooley, Walt Griesbach, Melanie Henderson, Pam Johnston, Jane Manross, Sue McCreary, Dawn Nesbit, Nancy Ohmer, Mary Shilling, Sheila Sweet and particularly Todd and Marcie Griesbach. And finally, to the friends who constantly checked in and helped Danelle keep her spirits up were Sue Russo, Sue Kuhne, and particularly Laurie Pietrasiewicz. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Monday from 3 to 7 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, on Tuesday at 11 am conducted by Rev. Chris Weichman. A private interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
