Dalila Hernandez

Dalila “Lila” Hernandez (Rosario) 75, of Dunkirk, NY went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Dalila was lovingly known as Lila, she was born in Cidra, PR on September 21, 1951 and was raised in Dunkirk, NY where she was a longtime resident. She retired from the Carriage House of Dunkirk.

Lila cherished her faith, enjoyed singing church music and when she sang her voice was so beautiful, she also enjoyed crocheting, and treasured time she spent surrounded by her family. Her love for her family was reflected in the generations she helped nurture. She adored all her grandkids and great grandkids she would always name each one and proudly say how many she had. She looked forward to her phone calls with her siblings. She will be remembered for the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Lila is survived by her husband, Wilfredo Hernandez. In addition to her husband, survivors include her devoted children, Mary (Matt) Ruiz of Erie, Pa, Jimmy Ruiz of Florida, and Lucy Ruiz of Erie, Pa, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, and god daughter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Clemencia Rosario, her father, Antonio Rosario Cruz and her grandson, Luis Miguel Ramos “Luigi”.

Lila will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her faith, her love, her jokes and the lasting legacy she leaves through her family. May she rest in eternal peace.
