Constance Ann Woodle

–

Erie, PA

Constance "Connie" Ann Woodle, age 81, a lifelong resident of Erie, went to her eternal peace on Thursday, January 28, 2021. She was born in Erie on June 28, 1939, daughter of the late Charles and Angela Nellie Kierzek.

Connie graduated from East High School and began her lengthy career with GTE (now Verizon) as a telephone operator. She broke the glass ceiling long before it was a goal for many women. She retired as Labor Relations Manager - GTE Pennsylvania. Her impeccable work ethic, professionalism and keen negotiation skills not only made her successful, but also inspired her daughter to succeed in her own career. There were several things Connie looked forward to in life: a competitive game of Scrabble, baking an amazing apple pie, the latest New York Times bestseller, an annual trip to Vermont, and visits from longtime friends Judy and Don Lenz of Irving, TX. Connie's greatest desire, a grandchild, came to her very late in life. She was at her best and most loving when being "Meemaw" to six-year-old Autumn Rae who loved her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie and Alfred; and her father and mother-in-law, Cecil Sr. and Eleanor Woodle. She is survived by her husband, best friend, and constant companion, Cecil Jr., after spending 58 years together. She is further survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Douglas) Dye of Naples, FL; her sister-in-law, Christine Kierzek; three nieces, Kathi (Paul) Kinzig, Karen (J.C.) Hunter, and Kristina (Nick) Kierzek; and their terrific sons. Despite the miles that separated them, Connie was blessed with a brother-in-law, Walter (Joyce) Woodle; and three nephews, Edward (Katie), Jim (Mandy) and Joe (Lisa) Woodle, all from areas surrounding Indiana, PA.

The family extends deep gratitude to the caring and professional staff at Saint Vincent Hospital, especially the Covid ICU teams, who took exceptional care of both Connie and Cec during their recent illnesses.
