Constance Edwards Obituary (1931 - 2022)

Constance "Connie" Edwards, age 90, of Erie, passed away gracefully and peacefully in the same way she lived her life on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at LECOM Senior Living Center. She was born in Erie on September 25, 1931 to the late Herbert "Russ" and Ruth Lindsey. Connie was an Academy High School Class of 1949 graduate and later went on to become a dental assistant in Wesleyville, where she met her husband, Donald E. Edwards, while having lunch at the local diner. They married in 1953 and Connie took a career break to be an extraordinary mother and household manager. She returned to the workforce in the late-70s and worked for PNC, where she made some wonderful friendships before retiring in the mid-90s. Connie's greatest joy and focus in life was her family. Connie and her husband of 56 years raised two children together. They enjoyed many happy times with their children, their families and with her sister, "Kitty" Lindgren and family. Her all-time favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, loved music and dancing with her husband. She will be remembered for her warmth, fun spirit and strength. She was a member of New Hope and Sarah Hearn Presbyterian Churches and the Order of the Eastern Star. Connie is survived by her sister, Kathryn, "Kitty" Lindgren; her son, Douglas "Doug" Edwards (Kristine); and her daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Edwards Veihdeffer (Walter). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Christopher, Athena, Danielle, Stephanie, Jennifer and Eva Edwards, and John, Amy and Julie Veihdeffer; plus 11 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her nephews, David and Jimmy Lindgren; and niece, Cindy Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Edwards; brother, Joel Lindsey; and sister, Judy Stevenson. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Services, Inc., 536 West 10th Street, on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Service there at 1 pm, conducted by Rev. Jeffrey Piccirilli. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
