Charles P. Betts

Charles Paul Betts, age 90, of Harborcreek, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026 at the Fairview Manor following a stroke. He was born in Punxsutawney, PA on September 23, 1935, son of the late Glenn and Ethel Young Betts.

Chuck enlisted in the Army from December 1958 until November 1960 with an honorable discharge. Charles married Helen Lesky Betts on May 5, 1962. They moved to Erie, PA shortly after they married.

Charlie worked for Bell Telephone in Punxsy and then moved to Erie and worked for GTE for 35 years. After his retirement in 1997, he would help friends and family cut down trees.

His hobbies included trips to the casino and playing scratch off lottery tickets. He was an avid football fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a great hunter and enjoyed hunting rabbit and deer. He loved to plant a garden every year and share his vegetables. He was very active at the Eastside YMCA and would spend many mornings chatting with his friends after his daily swim. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Betts, who passed away on July 4, 2026; and his siblings, Donald, Mary Jean, Glenn, Mildred, George and John Betts, Rebecca Parrish, Marion Brown and Nancy Fetterhoff. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Stritzinger.

Survivors include his four children, Paul (Linda), Richard (Melissa), Cynthia Stritzinger and Jennifer (Perry) Johnson; one brother, William; grandchildren, Kayla, Tony, Nikki (Tim), Felicia (Willie), John, Kyleen (Frank), Tiffany (Ilion), Gressil, Tori and Abby; two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Caden; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., for both Charles and Helen on Saturday, September 12th, from 2 pm until the Time of Sharing at 3:30 pm. Condolences may be sent to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.
