Brian Richard Jurkiewicz

Brian Richard Jurkiewicz, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at his residence. Brian was born on September 18, 1958, the son of the late Edward and Wanda Jurkiewicz.

Brian attended the former Technical Memorial High School where he received training in the vocational area as a Machinist. Brian was employed for many years as a Machinist, where he worked at Erie General Electric Company and Twinbrook Tool.

In his youth, he was a gifted athlete as a baseball player and was a member of the Kingtown League. His passion as a self-trained drummer allowed him to fulfill his musical talent as a percussionist in the Sundancer Band group that performed throughout the Erie area. During that time, he received his nickname "Hawaiian Brian" which stuck with him throughout his life. His lighthearted spirit was a real part of his personality. Brian was very proud of his Polish heritage and often made authentic Polish dishes for his family and friends. Brian was a lifelong devoted Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and golfing.

Brian is survived by two sons, Jacob Jurkiewicz and his wife, Jolanta, and Cory Jurkiewicz and his fiancee, Jessica; his two grandchildren, Logan and Olivia Jurkiewicz; siblings, David Jurkiewicz (Ruth), Dr. Kathleen Bukowski (Daniel), Gregory Jurkiewicz (Christine) and Lori Carmichael. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Gertrude Massing; and in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcie Massing Jurkiewicz; son, Brandon Jurkiewicz; and father-in-law, Kenneth Massing.

Family and friends are invited to St. James Roman Catholic Church, 2635 Buffalo Road, on Monday, August 21st, to call on the family from 10 am, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 am. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
