Angel Marino Vazquez

Angel Marino Vazquez, age 89, of Erie, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022. He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on November 23, 1932, son of the late Phillip and Celestina Jimenez Vazquez.

Angel was born and raised on a farm and learned to have a good work ethic at a young age, and a natural nurture for family. Whilst growing up in Puerto Rico, he was the oldest child of a large family and took care of his siblings, and later his mother in her illness. He migrated to the US and carried that love with him to Erie, Pa, where he continued as a hard worker and a family man. He settled down and had five children with his wife at the time and his sole focus was providing for his family. He began work with painting homes and helping on farms, and then eventually worked as a Machinist at Inland Container and retired after 33 years. He continued a hobbyist garden, even into old age, and loved to give away home grown fruits and vegetables to family, friends and neighbors. He even built a habitat to raise small farm animals, such as rabbits, and made homemade wine. Angel was the rare kind of man that loved to give to others and put their joy before himself, an altruist. His heart of gold would never deny someone in need. He was a true family man, a good husband, father, and grandfather. He most certainly lived up to his name, Angel, and will always be loved and missed by many.

Angel is survived by his children, Celestina Bonaminio, Luis Vazquez, Juanita Vazquez, and Juan Vazquez; one sister, many brothers, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Angel Marino Vazquez, Jr.; one son-in-law; one grandson-in-law; a sister and several brothers.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Thursday from 5 pm until the time of the Memorial Service there at 7 pm.
