Allen P. “Woody” McClelland Obituary (1954 - 2022)

Allen P. "Woody" McClelland, age 68, of Cambridge Springs and formerly Waterford, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital, following an extended cancer related illness. He was born in Erie on May 13, 1954, son of the late Perry and Norma (Neylon) McClelland. Woody was a 1973 graduate of the former Tech Memorial H.S.; having graduated from the auto body program at Tech. In 1974 he began his career as a paint technician with the General Electric Transportation Co. and remained employed there for 40 years until his retirement in 2014. Woody was a proud member of U.E. Local #506. After his retirement, he focused his energies on his hobbies and simply finding the peace and quiet he cherished, living in the country, up on The Hill, with his dear Ruthi to look after him, who fed him well and later, was his compassionate caregiver. A football and basketball fan, Woody also enjoyed auto repair/painting projects, car shows, riding his bike, running, hiking, gardening, landscaping and was a collector of train memorabilia, RC Hummers, and frog statues. In addition, he was a model train enthusiast as well as a diehard Cleveland Browns fan. His friends were no strangers to his generosity on Woody Day or any day, for that matter, with any friend. "Always go after your dreams" -Woody In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a dear niece, Tamika McClelland and his beloved pets, Pumpkin and Hercules. Survivors include his beloved wife of 12 years, Ruth E. (Ross) McClelland; his daughter, Heather D. McHenry; his stepson, Andrew D. Ross; two grandchildren: Samantha and Jacob McHenry; three sisters: Linda Durst (Dale), Theresa McClelland, and Janet Aaron; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.), on Sunday, October 23rd from 3 to 6 PM and are invited to attend the Funeral Service to be conducted there on Monday, October 24th at 11 AM by the Rev.
