Caryl Dykes Obituary (1945 - 2024)

Caryl Dykes, age 78, passed away at home on Sunday, May 5, 2024 with family and friend by her side. She was born in New York on July 11, 1945, daughter of the late Cleo and Carl McDonald. Caryl was employed for many years at Met Life in New York. Upon moving to Erie, PA, Caryl found employment at Blair, Jeff Howell Paint and Collision and Springhill as their receptionist and personal care provider. She had been active in the Art Guild. As a beautiful artist and painter, Caryl could be found at many Arts and Crafts Festivals at her "Caryl's Crafts" corner. She truly enjoyed painting and crafts and was known for her signature 3D crafts. In addition to her parents, Caryl was preceded in death by her sisters, Diane Harris and Valerie McDonald; and her fur babies, Jake and Lily. She is survived by her children, Robert "Malik" (Sabrina) Dykes, Crystal and Wanda Dykes; nine grandchildren, especially Jason (Fatima) Dykes; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including William Harris. She is further survived by her brother, Dennis (Norma) McDonald; her sister, Madeline (Ronald) Robertson; and her special friends, Shirley Bender, Linda Kreiling and Jeannine Gleichsner.
